I have always had a desire to create. As a child, like most other children, I dreamed of my own fantastical worlds and stories inexplicable to the real world in which I existed. As I grew older and my imagination matured, that creativity started to inject its own thoughts and ideas into other worlds I consumed through books, movies, and television shows. I didn't want to just be the characters I read or watched, I wanted to create my own character in those universes. I loved customization in games, creating many of my own avatars, players, vehicles, or organizations. While this was fun, it marked the first major step in a transition from a creative mindset into a consuming mindset. As I grew from child to teenager and from teenager to young adult, this trend continued until I ended up where I am today: a doom scrolling husk, desiring to create as I see others do, but never able to take the first step. I feel as if I have lost my ability to articulate thought and convey in prose what I feel in emotion.

Today, I decided to break the seemingly endless cycle, and invited my friends (all of whom are creative geniuses, each with their own particular styles and abilities) to join me as co-contributors here.

What is this site?

The purpose of this place is multi-faceted, but mainly, I want it to be a creative outlet. A place where I can nurture that part of my mind back to health. A place where I and my friends can share our musings free from the dominating algorithms of monopolistic social media companies who seek to monetize the minds of their users. If you can forgive cheesy analogs, I want this to be a place of refuge.

Why this name?

No particular reason. We joked in the past about using this name should we ever start an emo band, so I figured it'd be a fitting inside joke. Now you're in on it.
